SOLAR SPACE HEATING

Solar space heating systems are basically large domestic hot water systems. There are many ways to put the heat into the structure depending on the type of heating system currently installed.

FORCED AIR: On these systems a fan coil is placed in the return duct between the filter and furnace. When there is a call for heat and the tank is above about 90° , a small pump takes hot water from the solar tank and sends it to the coil, preheating the air going into the furnace.

HOT WATER HEAT: These systems heat the water going back to the boiler. Usually we use special controls to make the boiler run more efficiently and lower it’s operating temperature when the outside temperature is warmer.

$AVINGS: There has never been a better time for solar. Marylanders currently pay as little as 50% of an installed solar system.
MD State provides a *30% grant and the Federal Government provides 30% in tax credits. Anne Arundel County Residents also qualify for a property tax credit. Howard County residents have a further $1500 in grants bringing their costs down to only 40% of the total system cost.

*there is currently a wait-list with MD State while additional funding is located.
