Solar Pool Heating

Solar Pool Heating for HomePool Heating with solar energy is the most widely used, cost-effective and energy efficient use of solar power in the world.  Compared to Gas or Electric, an SES solar pool heating system can pay for itself in 1 - 2 seasons. Enjoy your pool 6 months out of the year - FREE!!

I can't begin to say thank you enough to you and the team.  Your team finished on April 21st and on April 25th we were already in the pool with 76 degree water.  The system is AMAZING and the best home improvement investment we have made.  Thanks again for a wonderful job and for starting our summer much earlier.

Solar pool heating is a very effective use of solar energy because pools are heated to relatively low temperatures and require a huge amount of heat. The system uses a very simple unglazed plastic collector that is perfect for this application. It is impervious to pool chemicals and at these low temperatures, is actually more efficient than a glazed collector. 90% of all the heat required by a pool is from losses from the waters surface. This is why solar pool systems are sized according to surface area and why a pool blanket is so effective.  There is simply no cheaper way of heating your pool.

REQUIREMENTS:  If the pool is in full sun, collector area should equal at least 50% of the  surface area of pool (400sq.ft. of solar collector for an 800 sq.ft. pool). If the pool is shaded, more collector area is required. An area that receives full sun (usually the roof) facing south to southwest.

Cost:  Per square foot + Automatic Controller; dependent on surface area size of pool and position of pool/roof relative to Sun.

Solar Pool Heating FAQ's

Is a Solar Pool Heater Cheaper than a Heat Pump or Gas?
No Question.  Compared to Gas or Electric, a solar pool heater may pay for itself within 1 or 2 seasons.
What Sort of Maintenance Will My Solar System Need?
Your solar pool heater will require no maintenance beyond your usual pool winterizing procedures.
Do the Solar Collectors Have to Face South?
Not necessarily. The solar collectors should just be installed where they can be in the sun a good portion of the day. Depending on the angle of the mounting surface east and west facing systems can function very effectively.
How does a solar pool heater work?
A solar pool heater is the simplest form of solar energy used in the home.  Thin, black solar panels sits on a nearby roof or ground mount; this area should receive at least six hours of sun per day during the extended swim season.  An automatic controller redirects the pool water throughout the solar panels and returns the warm water to the pool.  A properly designed system will heat the water approximately 10 - 12 degrees.
What is the cost of a solar pool heater?

The cost of a solar pool heater depends on how big the SURFACE AREA of your pool is (i.e. 20 x 40).  Other variables such as shading, distance between pool and collectors can also effect the price.  A fully sized solar pool heater can double your swim season and pay for itself in 1 or 2 swim seasons (when compared to gas or electric).  System estimates are priced by the square foot.  Call today for site visit and exact quote.

How many solar panels will I need to heat my pool?
The number of solar collectors needed to heat your pool will depend on three items:   1)  The size of the surface area your of pool (i.e. 20' x 40')  and   2)  The amount of sunshine received by your pool  3)  The amount of sunshine hitting the area where the collectors will be housed.
